Learning In Year Three

Learning in the Junior Academy is great fun.

In Year Three children consolidate some of the key skills they learnt at the Infant Academy whilst building on others. The children quickly settle to the expectations placed on them as they adapt to being in an academy with older children.

Homework is set in Year Three. Children will complete weekly home learning and also choose from a menu, something that is linked to their topic. The topic homework is set over a three week period so that children are able to develop the skill of planning, and managing, their time.  There is a wealth of support and information available so that children can succeed in the challenges they are set.

In Year Three children are introduced to the Italian Language.

Our Enhanced Curriculum

We want the children to throughly enjoying each age and stage of their childhood. We enhance and extend our Curriculum through learning and being outside. FAB Fridays will see all children engaged in lessons outside that build on the skill they have learnt during the week. They apply their learning to real life, making the very most of our wonderful environment and supportive community. Similarly, we extend the children's unerstanding of the world around them through Life Skills and learning how to use Makaton to sign. Your Teaching Team will let you know what is being taught, and when, though regular updates.

Children in Year Three continue to enjoy a fast paced curriculum enhanced by educational visits, chances to participate in local and national events and a residential visit. They also engage in a longitudinal study focusing on element of our local area.
