Food and Drink

We have a team of superb caterers lead by Mrs Catchpole. They run our kitchen on behalf of Edwards and Blake. The government funded, Universal Free Infant School Meals ensures that all children are able to enjoy the cooking skills of Mrs Catchpole's team.

We strongly encourage you to 'opt in' so that your child may benefit from the nutritious meals provided. If you would like to 'opt out' of this offer you may do so, please contact Mrs Griffiths in the office. Please be aware that you will not be able to 'opt in' for celebration meals such as Christmas Lunch. We will provide as much flexibility as we possibly can and children will still be able to choose not to have a hot dinner on occasion. We do ask you however to provide as much notice as possible to prevent food waste.

Should children not wish to have a meal from the kitchen and 'opt out' of the Free School Meals they should bring a packed lunch. Please do not include sweets or fizzy drinks when packing for your child. Currently we do not have space to keep packed lunches cool, small cold packs are ideal for you to include in your child's lunchbox.

Please note that we are a nut-free site. Please do not use nut-based products if your child brings in food from home.

The school food trust  website offers lots of advice on packed lunches. www.schoolfoodtrust.org

Individual medical diets can be catered for by arrangement with Edwards & Blake, please contact the academy office for further information.

We have water coolers in each class area. Children are encouraged to drink throughout the day. All children should bring a filled water bottle with them to the academy each day. The water bottle must be named and filled with water only. Staff will be on hand to refill water bottles throughout the day.

We belong to the National Fruit Scheme. At playtime all children are offered vegetables or a piece of fresh fruit. Children are able to bring something from home should they really do not like what is on offer, however it must be a piece of fruit or a vegetable.
